Sustainable tourism, a commitment, my responsibility
The General Assembly of the United Nations has chosen 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. The slogan of the commemoration is “Travel. Enjoy. Respect “, an invitation to explore different destinations and tourist experiences; act responsibly with the environment and with the communities we visit; and to be aware that all tourism decisions we make have an impact on the lives of others.
The designation of International Year of Sustainable Tourism was in the same year that the Assembly adopted the Agenda 2030, an action plan that establishes 17 Objectives and 169 Goals that should guide the public and private sector to achieve universal development and prosperity strengthen global peace and support the conservation of the planet.
As you can see, sustainable development is not a distant concept, neither a fashion but a tangible commitment and a responsibility that corresponds to the highest level of government as much as each of us.
